Surah Ash-Shams ( The Sun ) - English - Yusuf Ali Surah Ash-Shams ( The Sun ) - Aya count 15
Surah Ash-Shams (The Sun) is a Meccan surah of 15 verses. It is surah number 91 in the Mushaf and begins on page 595 of the Madinah Mushaf.

91:1 وَٱلشَّمْسِ وَضُحَىٰهَا ﴿١﴾
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour;
91:2 وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَىٰهَا ﴿٢﴾
By the Moon as she follows him;
91:3 وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّىٰهَا ﴿٣﴾
By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) glory;
91:4 وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰهَا ﴿٤﴾
By the Night as it conceals it;
91:5 وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا بَنَىٰهَا ﴿٥﴾
By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure;
91:6 وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَىٰهَا ﴿٦﴾
By the Earth and its (wide) expanse:
91:7 وَنَفْسٍۢ وَمَا سَوَّىٰهَا ﴿٧﴾
By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it;
91:8 فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَىٰهَا ﴿٨﴾
And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;-
91:9 قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن زَكَّىٰهَا ﴿٩﴾
Truly he succeeds that purifies it,
91:10 وَقَدْ خَابَ مَن دَسَّىٰهَا ﴿١٠﴾
And he fails that corrupts it!
91:11 كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَىٰهَآ ﴿١١﴾
The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing,
91:12 إِذِ ٱنۢبَعَثَ أَشْقَىٰهَا ﴿١٢﴾
Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety).
91:13 فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ نَاقَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَسُقْيَٰهَا ﴿١٣﴾
But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!"
91:14 فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنۢبِهِمْ فَسَوَّىٰهَا ﴿١٤﴾
Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)!
91:15 وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبَٰهَا ﴿١٥﴾
And for Him is no fear of its consequences.
